i've always wanted to join forums but i am too scared. its seems too hard, and i feel that people will destroy me. maybe one day when i have the courage, ill try it.
The net can be a great way to cut your teeth, but it's easy to become unbalanced with it (like you said where your "disconnect") but isn't this the case with any technology that a kid (or adult) latches onto so intimately? There were generations of people living in their books, for instance...when is the tech a training wheel and when is it a crutch?
I think the important ingredient is time for a lot of us. You said that your education had to "catch up" with you - ain't that the truth - sure, it evens out at some point, but don't a lot of people spend far too much time being talked down to and otherwise cloistered in the educational arena?
So - don't know if that was all original enough but yeah, damnit!
Remember, you can immortalize your paper-based writing with the simple addition of a laminating machine ;)

ReplyDeleteYou seem to know a lot about using the computer. Your literacy narrative is really good. You gave a lot of specific examples and it's interesting!
